What You’ll Do As A Plant Mechanic:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain plant vehicles and heavy machinery powered by diesel and gasoline engines.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on all plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
- Troubleshoot and overhaul engines, transmissions, differentials, and related drivetrain components.
- Inspect, repair, and adjust hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, hoses, valves, and cylinders.
- Identify and resolve electrical issues, including wiring, sensors, lighting, alternators, starters, and control systems.
- Service and maintain cooling systems by repairing radiators, water pumps, thermostats, and coolant lines.
- Perform brake system diagnostics and repairs (air and hydraulic), including pads, calipers, lines, and control components.
- Conduct emissions system troubleshooting and repairs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Complete routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, tire service, and equipment inspections.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and PM schedules.
- Ensure all repairs follow safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company procedures.
- Operate and test heavy equipment to verify repair quality and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams to identify equipment issues and plan repairs.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, manuals, and computer-based service systems for efficient troubleshooting.
Requirements To Be A Successful Plant Mechanic:
- Must be able to work independently
- Pass a pre-employment drug and background screen
- Proficiency in performing general preventive maintenance (PM) on various types of plant equipment and vehicles.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems, wiring, sensors, lighting, and control circuits.
- Experience servicing cooling systems such as radiators, water pumps, thermostats, and coolant lines.
- Skilled in brake system maintenance and repair (air and hydraulic).
- Working knowledge of emissions systems and compliance requirements.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and system maintenance.
Schedule and Pay Of A Plant Mechanic:
- 1st Shift Monday-Thursday 5am – 3pm | $18-$19/hr.
- Must be available for OT as needed
